MARK
The Mark Series is my first collection of sculptural furniture and a natural evolution of my brushwork. The initial forms, like the Tall Dining Chair and the Lounge Chair to follow, emerged as I experimented with large brushstrokes on plywood. Those lines mimicked the shape and movement of the body. The scale afforded by the large pieces of plywood allowed the artwork to read as a piece of furniture, or at least as a simple sketch of a chair. Each piece is a study of form and balance, translated into a functional object.
The series begins with the Tall Dining Chair, A meandering line supporting two simple planes.
Crafted from high-quality birch plywood, it comes in both a natural wood finish and a high gloss inky-black finish. The piece invites you to experience furniture not just as utility, but as art.
